Sushi Samba

Sushi Samba occupies the 38^th to 39^th floors of the Herons Tower in central London. As one of the leading restaurants in the city it has held the 2015 Brits after party with stars such as Ellie Goulding and Mark Ronson.

Security Care were contacted regards the project many months previously in September 2014. Their concern was that the current doors installed next to the kitchen were not fit for purpose and had beginning to fail.

After submitting our quote and getting the green light off Sushi Samba to proceed with the Job at the beginning of 2015 we were able to have a look at the current issues. The two doors that needed replacing had been fitted with an upper surface mounted mag lock. This had caused the doors to twist and lose their rigidity.

After consultation with their management we advised that the new doors would not require access control or mag locks. Due to the doors being by the kitchen they were being subjected to a heavy flow of traffic. With staff needing to get between the doors regularly it was causing a needless complication with access control.

A further problem was that we would not be able to work within typical working hours. As the restaurant could not afford to close the restaurant we were able to arrange that we would complete all works between the hours of 01:00-08:00am.

Finally with the restaurant being on the 38^th Floor accessibility was another problem to consider. With the doors measuring at well over 2metres in height we needed an easy way of transporting them. Therefore we were able to arrange for access of the goods lift to transport the new doors and our equipment.

In the end the project was signed off and completed without any major issues. We were able to finish well within our allotted time period included all snagging. Furthermore we will be installing a further steel fire door in the basement of the Herons Tower before the end of March working on the same specification.
